INTRODUCING NA-EVA1
THE PANASONIC AU-EVA1 5.7K SUPER 35 HANDHELD CINEMA CAMERA
The compact and lightweight AU-EVA1 from Panasonic is the next model in the growing "production ready" compact cinema cameras that are finding themselves popular with the underwater image makers.
5.7K AND SD CARD RECORDING
The EVA1 offers several cinema features that will appeal specifically to the underwater videographer. The large 5.7K sensor contains 17.25 million photosites, almost double what is needed to produce a DCI 4K image (8.8 million). This means that the EVA1 is capturing more information than necessary producing richer colors for its 10bit 4:2:2 400Mbps 4K output. Furthermore the EVA1 is able to record this to SD cards via the dual SD card slots. This further reduces the need for costly media.
EF MOUNT AND EIS
Of particular interest to the underwater shooter is the camera's EF lens mount and EIS stabilization integration. With a wide variety of EF mount lenses supported for underwater this will keep the overall investment to a more reasonable level. The EVA1 is equipped with an ND filter wheel that applies an ND fitler mid-roll from +2 to +6 strength allowing for shallower depth of field imaging even in bright conditions or as way to increase contrast in direct sunlight situations.
DUAL NATIVE ISO AND 14 STOP DYNAMIC RANGE
The EVA1 features Panasonic's Dual Native ISO that is a prominent feature of the larger Varicam lineup. This essentially means that when shooting at either an ISO of 800 or 2,500 the noise level will be the same, only the sensitivity increases. There is also V-Log and V-Gamut capture that takes full advantage of the camera's 14-stops of dynamic range.

THE NAUTICAM NA-EVA1 HOUSING
Nauticam has been producing the most technologically advanced and production-friendly underwater cinema housings and accessories with support for multiple brands including ARRI, RED, BlackMagic and Canon. Nauticam continues this with the introduction of the NA-EVA1 for the Panasonic AU-EVA1 5.7K Super 35 Handheld Cinema Camera.
Building upon this successful lineage the NA-EVA1 incorporates the latest features that are also found on the recent NA-C200 for the Canon C200 handheld cinema camera.
LENSES AND PORTS
The NA-EVA1 is built around the N120 port system for Cinema and DSLR lenses. Ports are secured using the patented iconic Nauticam locking lever feature. With the N120 to N200 port adapter the NA-EVA1 is also able to use Cinema Styled lenses supported by that adapter. The EVA1 uses a Canon EF mount.
MONITOR OPTIONS
The NA-EVA1 has a built-in window for the supplied Panasonic monitor (both side and top handle as well as monitor shade need to be removed). This can be used as either the primary monitor for a streamlined application such as when freediving or as a status monitor when an external monitor such as the Shogun Inferno is used with the appropriate HDMI or SDI bulkheads and cables. When used with the Shogun Inferno the full 5.7K/30p signal can be recorded in the new ProRes RAW format.

FEATURES
PATENTED PORT LOCKING SYSTEM
Unveiled on the very first Nauticam DSLR housing in 2009, this locking lever has become a signature of the Nauticam brand. No twisting or threading action is required to mount a port, and it locks securely in place with this lever. Nauticam also offers locking port extensions, meaning a dome will never twist, even when used with a long extension ring.
HOUSING LOCKING LATCHES
The industry's easiest to use housing closure system, requiring very little hand strength to operate, secures the housing back in place. The latches are safely locked to prevent accidental opening, but are easy to open when needed for a quick battery or memory card change.
MISSION CONTROL
Access to critical controls while filming is crucial to capturing that split-second action as it happens. Taking your eye off the screen to change a setting can mean missing the shot. Nauticam engineers have intuitively placed all essential controls within reach of the handles.
CINEMA ACCESSORIES
The trim weights can be moved independently along the length of the skids and additional mounting points are featured on the housing itself to trim the housing to the shooter's exact needs.
ZOOM AND FOCUS CONTROL KNOBS
The NA-EVA1 features oversized mechanical zoom and focus knobs with erasable surfaces for focus/zoom position marks. The internal gearing is moved away quickly via a small external lever to allow removal of the camera without disruption of focus/zoom gear alignment.
Vacuum Check & Leak Detection System
The NA-EVA1 comes with the Vacuum Check and Leak Detector electronics pre-installed as well as the M16 Vacuum Valve assembly. This allows testing the water-tight integrity of the housing before the dive and constant monitoring with an easy to see colored LED status light.
